Welcome to NearbyNerd

NearbyNerd was established in 2009, with the goal of becoming a bridge between two groups of people:

  • Computers and Electronic devices users
  • Who are in dire need of a cheap, fast and comfortable solution for their repair, support and guidance needs.

    And

  • Nerds: Computer Science students, whiz kids, IT professionals and other techies
  • Who have heaps of knowledge and experience, love to help others, and are in great need of generating some extra income.

So what does NearbyNerd do?

For the users, NearbyNerd provides a means to find and contact nerds in their area.
For the Nerds, NearbyNerd provides a means to make some income through advertising their existence and willingness to help users with their computer and electronic device needs.

How does it work?

When nerds register to NearbyNerd, they create a profile page that includes all the information a user might want to know about them. This information includes:
  • Address
  • Age
  • Sex
  • Specialties
  • Charge
  • Availability
  • Description
  • Contact details

The users are then able to search the nerds profiles by postcode, address or keywords to find the nerd best suited to their needs.

NearbyNerd also incorporates integration with Google Maps to provide detailed maps on the nerds profiles, an internal messaging system for the communications between users and nerds, and also Skype integration to allow free calls using the Skype network.

Spread the word

In order for NearbyNerd to fulfill its goal and become a useful service, it has to become known.
If you like the idea of NearbyNerd we therefore ask you to tell as many friends as you can about it, and remind them to give it a try the next time they face a technical problem!
